These words came while watching Spike Lee's program, "When the Levees Broke." I just let them flow and wrote them as they came.
"When the Levees Broke"
... a world of pain came floating in through the windows, flooding eyes with grief. what good would it do to turn lids inside out? water still poured: nothing stemmed the surge rising, rising over my head. tides of sorrow vomited me out of the house and onto angry shores. when the levees broke, my heart broke with them.
Can I even imagine? What in the world would I do, besides reach for higher ground in hopes, I still can climb...You capture the shortness of it all, within minutes their lives changed forever...

Wow! Karla, this poem reflects a vivid image of what New Orleans must have been like. "tides of sorrow vomited me out of the house" provides a strong image. Nicely done.
I have to agree with Ed; how they did the storm victims that survivec is nothing short of criminal! God help us and them! May we never witness such heartbreak again! BRAVA; very well told, effectively and powerfully!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin sister, Karen Lynn. :( >tears! <
So did mine, Karla, and this is a very powerful piece. I truly hope we never have to witness such a heartbreaking thing again in this country of ours - or anywhere else.
Major League ballplayer Justin Moore is kidnapped from his own ballpark and transported to a foreign land. It might take high-level international negotiations to free him. Or maybe he will take matters into his own hands.
I feel the pain in your heart, dear Karla.

You just keep getting better and better.
