... why do we lick the high heel'd shoes of celebrity? is it because our tongues, gritty with failure, craves just a taste of the good life, any way we can get it?
I've been sitting here studying the lines of your Idol Worship for some five or six minutes, now, letting my mind touch upon the celebrities I've known and have been around and, while there, observed the actions of others around these same celebrities.
You know what, Karla? I think you're absolutely right. I don't know if it's jealousy or envy or, perhaps, wanting to be judged of equal value with the "high-valued" celebrity we're identified with, but you've got your finger on a truth button here. If not, then why do so many in our society bust their butts to be around or to be close to the big wigs or pay good money to read all the newsy gossip about someone we don't know, never will know, and whose presence has absolutely no bearing whatsover on anything we're concerned with in our own real world?
What's the old saying? "The truth will out"?
For me, this is a very provocative write, Karla.
Now, I'm tired. I'm not used to thinking so much all at once.
You can always tell when someone, who puts six lines out, and then gets a return of over 60 and growing in reviews..thats a darn good pen! This makes the reader feel their own guilt and that hurts! Raw truth of the matter!
Enjoyed!

Good question, and great answer...I must say that I have to agree with you Karla. Great write, you've given the reader much to think about within six lines! Enjoyed this much!
Blessings,

Couldn't agree with you more, Karla. Great insight. Time we woke up. Celebrities have nothing to offer...but masks. They pretend to be someone else. We are who we are...ordinary folk. What you see is what we are, at least I hope this is true for most. Enjoyed, as always! Yep! We're on the same wavelength today, and I wasn't even thinking about the Oscars! :)
Great insight, on this, a short write but it speaks volumes
God Bless

Some actors do bring the gift of a great book, just to enjoy, in the old days of shakespeare time till the movies actors were the lowest of low. Why some look up to them i no not, as its only the daft amounts of cash that they fall/fool for....
Well, guess those high-heels tread the same dirt on the streets as the rest of us, Karla, and, to them, the good life would be the contentment enjoyed by one gifted and passionate Texas poet who is totally in love with her craft... But yeah, we place on pedestals all those we love, fear or admire... and perhaps ESPECIALLY those who have brought us something special in life... not always the rich and famous, but to us they most certainly are! Neat write, TY Kate xx

We're on the same train of thought, Karla, except my poem is about our fixation with the Oscars. I don't know if it is so much that we wish we were a celebrity or that the mixed-up lifestyles of celebrities drawn us like moths to a flame. Good thought to ponder, though.
Someday we will meet and I will have a few pairs of shoes for you too lick, though rufuz does a real good job, if interested you are, I will save a few pairs just for you...e
