Cynth'ya Lewis Reed's "MaDDneSSS" inspired this bit of sadness...pray for me?

... wanted to write a beautiful poem,
but i'm low on funds
and don't feel like it anyway.
the words that i had wanted to express
i can't afford; that
makes me very angry, indeed:
i'm a minimum wage poet living
on dreams of greatness ...
and am failing, miserably.

A totally brilliant poem. Is it irony or humility that in this poem, and so many others from the same pen that produced this one, is the very "greatness" referenced in the penultimate line? Admirable expression of honesty, strength, and integrity.

Great subject, it seems poets are not paid for their words of wisdom. After being Terminate for Poetry, I decided to use my retirement funds to live out a dream. But today, at times I want to give up and I wake up with a line a verse. Keep dreaming Karla, keep dreaming, faith will bring you an answer.

Karla, a long long time ago hunger was in my belly and I felt despondent and without words, but guess what, an old partizan parted a piece of dry bread and a small onion with pepper (no salt available)and scolded me to let the hunger get to me saying,"write, write how its feels to have hunger and get the elation of seeing your hand erasing the word..."
It was 1946, with snow piling well above my knees, I thought that was it, I couldn't possible survive as I survived the war, but here I am, alive and today being 82.
Hope!!!, don't let tomorrow's happines be for nothing.
Georg

You may not be rich,
so join the club,
better than digging a ditch,
You had better buck up dear young lady,
Or we will have to come down there,
And beat you with a switch...LOL, Ed & Rufuz

Just about the time that you feel you can't dig anymore, the shovel breaks through into a lovely pure underground stream and your life is suddenly flooded anew with refreshing, life giving water. At that moment you know that: "Never will I leave you nor forsake you" was a personal promise to you from the Creator. Stand Strong!

Light and Wisdom ...

I know this sounds trite, Karla; but I do feel your sorrow. Mine may be of a different source but we're still on the same page if I may humbly say so. Take care. Love and peace to you,

Regis

... you already DO write beautiful poetry, dear Karlaj! I enjoyed this poem in the spirit in which it was written, because I can relate ... I'm a minimum wage poet, too. Well done!
