... the hunger leaves my stomach turn'd inside out; ribs show; I keep on writing, hoping one day it will fill me. the hunger leaves my head in a dizzy whirl; i faint; I keep on writing, hoping one day i'll stabilize. the hunger leaves my pockets empty; nothing in them; i keep on writing, hoping one day i won't be poor. this is not an easy life; i wouldn't wish this on nobody; i keep writing, because i am H U N G R Y.
The hunger a writer feels for acknowledgement of his or her work is the aching hunger to reach out and touch someone or know that your words have brought a tear, a smile, a laugh or even sadness and anger to another human being. We do not do it for the money for if we did we would mostly starve. It is for the baring of the heart and soul into a work that we are proud of.
This hunger within does impede upon one's life, loss of sleep, loss of concentration until we get it on paper! Then the joy and the relief can can be felt! Oustanding write my dear friend!

The truth resides within each of us and at some point will find its way through our pen. This is the spirit of the writer and though, perhaps, we will never find the answers to our own questions, we may be blessed with delivering the much needed answers to a reader of our words. Nice poeming, Karla!
Take care,
Sherry
Enjoyed this Karla...because I can so relate to this...I write and write and I sometimes wonder...who in the world will ever read my poetry and then a nice message from someone will come and give me encouragement to push on. Keep up the good work.
The poet can't let desperation to take over the good sense, hunger not only debilitates the muscles but also sharpen the senses to see more clear the day after the hunger.
Nobody should throw the towel with two fist still up for fight.
Keep aiming to the top, once there the rest of the trip would be like a sloping chute down trip...nice and on easy street.

I can relate; it is akin to being on drugs. The more we do it, the more we want! Very well done; brava! Keep on writing! As long as you do I shall read!

Oh boy, Karla, can I relate to this! It is a hunger, a deep insatiable hunger in the very pit of our soul. You've done a beautiful job with this and it's a befitting metaphor!
