An elderly woman's sunny disposition inspired "Despite the Pain."
Her face, a testament to the ravages of life's cruelties; but does she complain? No: her smile transforms wrinkles into something beautiful to behold. Eyes sparkling, a glimmer of hope remains: would that I be like her, smiling despite the pain.
A very touching write my friend, reminds me of my mamaw before she passed away...she was strong throughout her battle with cancer, and always smiling. Touching write!

Oh Karla, the brave are among us and what grace to emulate.
Those that cry with pain are surrending to the teachs of the dark angels roaming the distraght's valley, those that forced a smile upon their wrinkles are sowing happiness for late days.
Pain is there for us to conquer.

Those that take the trials , pains, circumstances in joy are always going to be blessed in the end. Wonderful poetry Karla....
Smiling through the pain allows us to defeat the ravages within, thus allowing us to feel better. We might still feel the pain, but we do not notice it enough. Keep on smiling, Karla, through your poetry and in life.
Such a testament and tribute to grace, wisdom and beauty in this write, Karla. I often think the easier we have it, the more we complain. This woman's strength and fortitude is her badge of honour and glorious shining light. Thank you for bearing witness to it. Kate xx
