It's Raining

Don't know where this came from: and yes, it was raining.

Raining.  Worn out, weary
of death:  same sad news on
evening reports.  Nothing
shocks, anymore.  What they
say falls from my eyes as
tears, for nostalgic times
long missed.

It's raining.  Even the
rain is different than
it used to be:  harder.
Meaner.  Each drop thuds with
a heavier weight than
I remember:  ? global
warming ??

Been raining.  Still raining:
and so, I slip apart,
unbuttoned like the sun,
down into the depths of
the storm:  please, poetry,
save me:  You're my hope, my
escape  ......

(c) 2007, Karla Dorman (8/2)

Rain is beautiful for the most part but, lo, if the heart is heavy and the self is melancholy, rain is the harbinger of sadness, down in the dampness and just everything is painted gray. Make lemonade and listen to John philip Sousa, paint sunflower or apple cinnamon muffins...then, watch the magic of yourself and the awareness you can give the gray, rainy days. This works. I promise!
Love,
Susan

Karla,
Really enjoyed this. This part hit me particularly hard:
"Even the
rain is different than
it used to be: harder.
Meaner. Each drop thuds with
a heavier weight than
I remember"
Melancholy & nostalgic. Fits great w/ the first stanza.
Great job.
