dear lady liberty
please don't cry
wipe the tears cascading
from your eyes
wipe the dust coating your
lovely face
and meet the challenge with
God's good Grace
you're feeling battered and
may be bruised
or perhaps you're feeling
quite abused
you may feel you've been stabbed
in the back
you may wonder why we
were attacked
it's because they want what
we enjoy
freedom for men women
girls and boys
see they made a mistake
we proved wrong
they thought we'd be weak
no--we're strong
so hold your lamp up high
shining bright
let it be a beacon
throught the night

As 9/11 draws near the voices of a nation will once again ring loud in unity. Yet how tenous the next step becomes as already the lines that divide us are drawn.
