you had no warning
as you went to work that day
early that morning
the ultimate price you'd pay

it's time to go home
was quiet during the night
your wife's on the phone
talking with her a delight

alarms ring out loud
somewhere an emergency
you see smoky clouds
rising above the city

tell your wife goodbye
just like you have done before
won't be long until
you'll be walking through the door

you jump in the truck
with your fellow firemen
you arrive on scene
training takes over again

it's the trade towers
smoke and fire fill the air
your body cowers
a second plane knifes in, tears--

you must get inside
this is what you're trained to do
you don't brag with pride
as you've done search and rescue

start to climb, acend
it's so much harder--a lot
the climb never ends
the air around you gets hot

people see you there
climbing down stairs from up high
encouragement, prayers
from those coming from the sky

a roaring--shaking--
oh God the building's falling--
feels like an earthquake--
pain--final darkness calling--
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

dedicated with love, honor and respect
to those who paid the ultimate price...
and to their family members and friends.

i will always remember and never, ever
forget.

i made a promise on september 11,
and that is to thank every man and wom-
an who is a firefighter, police officer, an
e.m.t., or a member of a search and res-
cue unit. **thank you for a job well done,
and for keeping us safe.** (BTW, i have
NOT broken that promise!)

(((HUGS))) and love,

karla. :(

Great tribute and great promise!!!!! We will always miss those who had lost their lives on that day. Those who had unselfishly given themselves to save the others.

Keep up the great work! If the whole world was full of Karla Dorman's it would be such a happy place. Honey, this song is for you.
...........................................
You are an Angel on earth. I wish you could hear what a beautiful song this is: Bill
...........................................
"Our Souls Shall Meet In Heaven"

I

Last night when I lay sleeping,
I saw you standing by my bed,
I reached out to touch you,
Then remembered what you said.

Chorus .....

I'm going home to Jesus - far beyond this earthly shore,
And I want you to know - I couldn't love you more,
Our souls shall meet in Heaven - I'll stand by your side,
Love you forever - and be your Heavenly guide..

II

Your voice seemed so far away
Like an echo in my heart,
And when it was time to part
I remembered what you said.

Chorus .....

I'm going home to Jesus - far beyond this earthly shore,
And I want you to know - I couldn't love you more,
Our souls shall meet in Heaven - I'll stand by your side,
Love you forever - and be your Heavenly guide..

Musical Break .....

Bridge .....

Time flew by that night and suddenly it was dawn,
And I felt so lonely I couldn't carry on,
But just when my heart was giving in to despair,
I found a ribbon on your pillow and a lock of your hair.

Tie .....

And heard your voice from Heaven saying ...

Chorus .....

I'm going home to Jesus - far beyond this earthly shore,
And I want you to know - I couldn't love you more,
Our souls shall meet in Heaven - I'll stand by your side,
Love you forever - and be your Heavenly guide.

Tag .....

Yes, I'm going home to Jesus
and you'll be by my side.

Karla,
If I may take the honor to say Thank You fom all of the Men and women who protect us every day. Having Served in both the fire department and ambulance association, it is many times a thankless job that is done. Believe me when I say most involved are not in it to hear the words but it does touch their hearts when the words "Thank You" do come.
