i looked out from the airplane's windows,
i could see them in the far distance,
standing together, there side by side,
by their majesty i was entranced,

i looked at them from the ferry boat,
at their heights i was amazed and stunned,
standing over the new york skyline,
bold and daring, seen by everyone,

i looked up into the clear blue skies,
at the twin trade towers standing tall,
reaching the heavens it seemed to me,
next to them, i felt so very small,

i looked down from their dizzying heights,
i felt i was the queen of the world!
i had never been so high before,
new adventure for this country girl!

one hundred ten stories 'bove the ground,
i felt the breeze ruffling through my hair,
the building rocked and swayed a little,
couldn't believe i was *way* up there!

i looked at the city from their heights,
it just seemed to go on forever,
could see out for miles and miles,
didn't want to leave, no, not ever!

i look back at all the photographs,
taken while on vacation that day,
it was just last summer i saw them...
they're gone now...an empty space displayed.
