i thought i saw you today
and it gave me quite a start...
honestly thought it was you
but no, it couldn't have been
the same stunning brunette hair
you was wearin' your green dress
with the angora sweater
but no...it couldn't have been
your eyes were one of a kind
golden--amber colored eyes
one look and you were gone, man
but no...it couldn't have been
you had a way of walkin'
ladylike...yet confident
i could watch you for hours
but no...it couldn't have been
no...it couldn't have been you.
memories came flooding back
of the last time i saw you
you gettin' ready for work
runnin' a brush through your hair
wearin' your lovely green dress
with the angora sweater
smilin' at me with those eyes
a lovely golden amber
intense...capturing my heart
everytime i looked in them
one look...i was gone, man, gone
struttin' like you owned the place
yet demure...a real lady
you worked at the trade towers
i lost you that september
when they collapsed to the ground
and i waited and waited
i waited for many months
prayin'...hopin' against hope
prayin' you'd survive...knowin'
that you probably didn't...
i wanted to know somethin'
but dreadin' the moment, too
when they'd tell me they found you
i thought i saw you today...
but no...it couldn't have been
