unless *semi-autobiographical*

unless you have walked in my shoes
you can't know what i'm going through

unless you've seen the things i've seen
you don't know what my life has been

unless you've trod the road i'm on
you can't say that all hope's not gone

unless you've been there, in my place
you cannot judge me, to my face

unless you bear the scars i do
you can't know what i have gone through

the pain i feel...the tears i cry
sadness darkens my world...my sky
* * * * * * *
depression is a devastating condition.
i've dealt with it in the past, and
sometimes, when life threatens to ov-
erwhelm, it raises its ugly head. i
battle this dragon every single day
of my life. most days, i keep it at
bay...but there are days when i'm
just too tired to fight.

don't tell someone who suffers from
depression to "just get over it." it
isn't that simple. encourage them to
talk...to you, to someone they trust,
to a professional counselor.

the battle can be won...i know

(((HUGS))) and love,

karla. :)

I understand this so well! How many times depression has threatened to overwhelm me! But as the years have gone by it lessened. Now as they keep going by it increases. But I can deal with it usually. I do understand. Hugs............ Bill

..there is a saying that the American Natives have..unless you walk one day in my mocasins you cannot know me....hmmm...in so many cultures the same thing is said...wonder why?...ah yes..I recall ANOTHER as having said 'Do not judge lest you be judged'...hmmm..maybe it's time we took notice of these words.
Excellent write...

Excellent write Karla! None of us can know what any indiviual goes through, for we all react differently, we can only judge by what we feel, and it's never the same;-)
