Courage in the face of tragic events,
Courage in the face of madness,
Courage in the face of danger,
We lost too many...we feel much sadness,

Courage in the face of extreme horror,
Courage in the face of torment,
Courage in the face of peril,
That's the description of "hero" they meant,

And why did they have to die?
So senseless--it makes me cry...

Courage in the face of Towers falling,
Courage in the face of fire,
Courage in the face of hatred,
Their bravery is to be admired,

Courage in the face of a disaster,
Courage in the face of despair,
Courage in the face of chaos,
Let's remember their families in our prayers,

And why, when they gave their lives,
It hurt so much--it made us cry?
