I heard your name called today
It was on a long, long list
A child's voice said the names
Of those loved ones that are missed
I heard your name called today
And it brought back memories
Of the last time I saw you
I wish you were here with me
I heard your name called today
And the tears ran down my face
You died that September day
In my heart, an empty space
I heard your name called today
And it filled my soul with pain
Though the New York skies were clear
The tears fell like heavy rain
I heard your name called today
Too many names on that list
Of loved ones, friends and brothers
But Joyce, you're the one I miss
I heard your name called today...

"Always remember and never forget"
------------------------------------------------------------
This poem came to mind immediately aft-
er hearing Joyce Ann Carpeneto's name
read from the long, long list of those
that perished on September 11, 2001.
It is lovingly dedicated to those who
knew and loved her.
Oh Karla! I never knew that you were that close to someone who was in the Twin Towers. This is a beautiful poem about one of the darkest days in our history. Wonderful job.
In the newspaper one of the children of one of the victims asked: "Many names are called; few are remembered. Every year we relive the tragedy . . . I pray we move on because it hurts too much."
I, too, posted tributes. I heard the names and read your beautiful tribute.
Tomorrow I will move on to ease the suffering of those left behind.
:)Sandy
Karla, I heard it too. I thought of you. This is an amazing touching tribute.
I may not give up completely on 9/11 tributes, but I am going to try and cut back on them.
I watched a movie last night on Showtime about the attacks, yes, I cried all the way through it. They showed actual footage of the disaster, that same lump found my throat once more. Just like it did the day it happened. Yesterday was filled with many thousands of tears. I feel as though I've made a milestone when I woke this morning just the day after two years ago. Great write Karla. Lisa
