Hope you have appreciated them over the years-- Even for a short time-- Those non-Cherbourg umbrellas I left behind You, the finders-keepers: I the weeper Who left them here and there Like unwanted newborns--on the taxi seat, The church pew, the drugstore countertop, The checkout counter at the supermarket You name it-- All that forgetfulness provokes me to refrain From ever seeking another But then the rains descend And I rush in just as any other fool To buy a new one Or two One black, one blue?
Best way to keep your umbrellas keep them small and invest in a big bag. Always make sure you have a pair in your bag at any given time and make sure you have several lying around your house, so you won't need to run to the shop that often. I hope that helped.

LOL! This seems to be some sort of "curse"... and I'm always being its "victim", too! The funny thing about it is that I always seem to leave behind the good ones exclusively... because, a home, I have a huge basket absolutely bursting full of broken umbrellas! LOL!

Happens to the best of us...enjoyed this write much...I loose umbrellas...never get to keep them long enough to remember what they look like. Great write!

I can so relate Randall - especially when it comes to eye glasses. Lord knows I have lost my share of those. Good write. And I like the fact that there is an unsolved mystery in it too.
This poem's message is truly in the eyes of the beholder who is left to interpret whether the umbrellas hold a significance or whether they reveal an all too normal proclivity. R
This collection of poetry addresses the nature of time, reflections on the natural world, the difficulty of loss,
contemporary social issues and gratitude for life.
