.

We have no long term plans

Anyway it can be deceptive,

This adjective long term

Long term this and long term that

Hmph

We have our plans for today, yes

I imagine yesterday we had a plan or two

Tomorrow we shall, will, are going to, and plan to…

But the IF is there

A big and imposing one

Like a sleek Black Hawk hovering,

Twirling and deafening you and us,

It has no favorites

That shiny Black Hawk

Roving the whole world

Like a democratic bird

Interfering with people’s long term plans

The nerve.

"All we have----is here and now", the song "Up Where We Belong", says. And it is true. Procrastination is the thief of accomplishment. Very good poem, good message. Thanks for sharing it. Jon Michael Willey

Next Arrivals by Robin Ouzman Hislop

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
