Of Doves and Wolves

That ever lost longing feeling that wells up like tears...

Crashing ... those endless waves of the emotional kind.
Another pill to wipe away the pain, yet still it stays,
Clawing at me from the inside.

I'm alone here, in this Hell.

There are no other footprints to follow but my own. If
there were, the winds have swept them away, only
lost memories that the wind knows about.

Is that all I am? A lost memory cast aside after a period
of time ... I can only hope, yet I know that there is nothing
more than that.

Hope.

Sometimes, through the fog, I see a figure on the horizon.
Yet, it never ventures this way, there is no bridge across
the moat I built years ago. Perhaps, this is merely a shadow
of some former memory ... or past life even. Honestly,
I don't rightly know, nor do I care to either.

At least, that is what I tell myself. Maybe one day I'll believe
it ...

Hope.

I fell in the moat, trying to chase that figure on the horizon.
Long ago, I lost myself and now I'm left drowning. The
muddy bank is still unforgiving. It seems I've forgotten how
to swim! And overhead, a dove passes by upon the currents
of the wind.

If only I could wake from this Hellish dream I've been caught
in! I cry out, but I know it's all in vain. This living nightmare
called life is wearing me out, leaving me emotionally
exhausted and with no way to escape.

If only I had wings ...

Then perhaps I might have the ability to fly away from this
forlorn place. Oh to spread wings and take to the sky! Now
that would be a wondrous dream ... to leave this nightmare
far behind.

Almost there!

The mud tries its best ... but I'm breaking free.

I want to be free of all this pain, but it's always there,
lingering in the shadows on even the brightest of days.
It gnaws at my soul, teasing, tormenting me.

Let me free fall into feathers, so that I might one day
find my wings.

If only I were a dove ... but the lone wolf I shall always be.

Oh but to fly and escape these things that bind. This was an excellent write with emotions full and ripe.

Say Something Terrorible v3 by RickthePoetWarrior

My mom says ‘If you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything’. Sorry mom but under the guise of poetic license I penned these beauties.
