Have You Ever Felt?
Dan Johnson
© 2004

Have you ever felt like you
Were caught in the middle of a
Marching band, full of;
Thunderous drums, clanging cymbals,
Blaring trumpets, tubas, aplenty,
And you have no place to go?
No place to hide,
No place for peace and quiet

Have you ever felt as if
You were driving the wrong way on a one way street?
Lights flashing, horns honking, brakes screeching,
No place to go?
Can’t change lanes, no exit in sight,
No place to hide,
No place for peace and quiet.

Tonight, no place to hide,
No place to break the maddening pace,
But for the little bit of calm in my soul,
I would crash, burn and die.
Have you ever felt that way?

Dan Johnson

Good question and answer poem. Yes, I've felt like this many times and just want to scream. Realistic writing.

Is there some other way to feel? I can surely relate to this one, Dan, since I love living life "on the edge." Ha! Good one, Dan!
