One day in December I went down to the sea
There we were;
my husband,
my child, who was only three and me.
that was the day the sea came to see what it could see.
We went to play in the sand,
Castles to build, kites to fly and running hand in hand
What fun we had,
my husband, my child and me.
Darkness invaded the place where we stood.
Out many miles, under the water the earth, it shook
Little did I know at that moment this is where the sea
would take my husband, my child and me.
A wall falling fast…dark shadows were looming
Its evil was cast.
Before we knew it we were being swept away
Tossing, tumbling, turning…sinking…
I knew in my heart, this would be the last.
One moment we walked along the shore…the next
Was a knock on heavens door.
That was the day in December, I long shall remember,
We went down to the sea, but the sea…came to me.
I feel the tide pushing us back to the beach
But the sea, now tranquil in its blue green mist,
arrived with a mystical kiss
that was the day she came for my husband, my child and me.
