Memories faded clouded by dust
Emerging from the shadows
Unearthed secrets growing anew
Were we too young?
Did we not know what was to be?

Promises forgotten over the years
Whispering in my mind
Unguarded feeling awakening anew
Did we not know?
Were we ever meant to find out?

Like finding an old family portriat in a long abandoned house. Three years ago, my brother took my mother to explore her childhood home, long abandoned. She married and had twins at seventeen, forgoing college. Was she too young?

Makes the reader ponder the issues of what was right and what was wrong in their own past as we stare at the writers reflection of hers.
