Poem Artwork

I have lived a mere twenty-four years.

In this time i have lied, cried, and loved.

I have forgiven, forgotten, and forsaken.

I have cage myself, my lovers, and my family.

I have unlocked the doors to no avail.

Lies i know hurt they cut they kill the soul.

So why i ask do i do this to myself?

Why do i lie to myself, my soul. my heart?

Why do i do this and yet not to others.

Crying now that is something i know.

I have cried, I have felt the flood too many times.

I have felt it rush over me all too quickly.

I have seen the drought it was meant to quench.

Forsaken, now forsaken is the question.

Is it i who has forsaken you or have you me?

I feel i have been forsaken, i feel let down.

Cages, this brings me to the cages.

Love is a cage, mystery one as well.

I have given the keys to all i love my family too.

Why is it that i could not, no choose not to unlock mine?

The bars are cold and uninviting.

One turn and i am tasting the sweetness of freedom.

I have done much in my mere twenty-four years.

Yet, i fear it has been all too little.

I have walked this path blind until now.

Now i walk with a head held high.

No more lies, maybe i'll cry, and i'll love.

But Forgiveness will not be handed out easily.

Pain will be there it shall never be forgotten.

Raw, real, and honest and thus very compelling, Jennifer. I appreciate where you are "coming from." Love and best wishes,

Wow 24...happy birthday and from a man double your age, I can still remember back what it was like to be that age. They (whoever "they" are)say we learn all the answers with age and experience. Guess what? "They" lie. Life is a continuous process of learning by our mistakes and love will alays be what it is...a roller coaster ride of the heart. Great poem of your true feelings Jenn,
