What does a layman have to do?

So in their country club they discuss your case,

Then we’ll settle as we could have done,
Before our dancing had even begun.
Know what a bus of lawyers with one seat empty going over a cliff is? A crying shame! My lawyer didn't get much outta me because I didn't have it and told him so. But my ex got everything.

I agree totally, my divorce lawyer had the decency at least to tell me up front they would screw around for a few months then settle for what I had offered origianally.
Oh, do I know about posturing lawyers! When you don't have one red cent left to your name, they finally decide to "get 'er done." Just remember, heaven is for those who have done good. So, who really gets the last laugh? My talk with God in situations such as this is "give me patience. NOW, please."
How so disgustedly true. My divorce lawyer, who claimed to be my friend and advocate, didn't help me at all, and on the way out of court, I heard him making lunch plans with my ex's lawyer. Right about then, I felt like stomping both of them.
I tend to agree based on what little I know and other people's experiences. I hope I don't have to find out the hard way! We can see them saying, 'Let's wait a little longer...' The German proverb goes: A lawyer and a wagon-wheel must be well greased.
The wall between Paradise and Hell was broken, no insurance from the red ones sais their lawyers, so, God was forced to pay for the reparations because he couldn't find a lawyer on his realm.

I saw a bumper sticker once...read it and nodded in agreement. It was the best bumpersticker I've ever seen.
It said,

You nailed it, Walt. As I'm sitting here reading this I'm doing research for my new novel, which has a court scene in it. So I'm reading lots of laaawyerly stuff and every story has the same picture below it. LOL

Trying to get on disability, denied twice. WHY?? I canNOT work. I am 100% disabled!! How disabled do I have to be???? Sad!!!! Those who need it (like me) can't get a break, while those who abuse the system or break the law get it every time! CRAZY!!!!!
Spot on excellence, Walt, they earn their two hundered dollars an hour off of the little people...sad. As long as the money's coming in, or you have the money, they'll do everything to ensure your freedom: hire one on contingency, HA! You'll wind up UNDER the jail.
