My friends understand my absence from reviewing. But, for the rest of you, stress had turned my brain to mush.
Let this be another warning about stress. Get hold of it and tell it that it will not conquer you, and the next day wake up with a hangover.
But for now I have a question with a few examples, I have been pondering.
I don’t believe in UFO’s.
Ok, does that mean because you don’t believe in them,
They don’t exist?
I don’t believe in Ghosts or the Supernatural.
Ok, does that mean because you don’t believe in them,
They don’t exist?
People who do or don’t believe in the above groups are not labeled or stigmatized the way this next group of doubters and Nay-Sayers are, the Atheist.
I don’t believe in God.
Ok, does that mean there isn't one,
Because you don’t believe in one,
A “Divine One” don’t exist?
Are we only arguing semantics here or is this valid Philosophical question?
Nay, I say this is a very valid, needs to be answered everyday on CNN question.
This gets to the root of your conscious beliefs.
If you do, you do. If you don’t, you don’t.
For Humanities’ sake? May we be tolerant of others beliefs? No one should die for a concept.
I believe in whatever I wish to
And leave alone those who believe or not
just don't impose on me whatever is
they believe or don't believe.
I'll still say on to them

Bingo, Walt! Right on the money with this one.
"May we be tolerant of others beliefs?" Always - if we want to have a right to live on this planet.
YOu ask one of the fundamental questions that those who often claim to be the most ardent believers miss. And you end it with the exactly appropriate conclusion. "If you do, you do. If you don’t, you don’t.
For Humanities’ sake? May we be tolerant of others beliefs? No one should die for a concept."
If only everyone would really ponder this "poem" in their everyday life we'd be better off - well, except for those "novelists"!

Walt, "we" have to teach ourselves to turn a deaf ear to those who destroy our confidence in ourselves. "No" two people have the same belief's that's why "we" have to turn a deaf ear to save our "souls". An excellent write.
No UFOs? talk for yourself! ! ! no ghost or supernatural? tell that to the one shaking those chains around the house and don't let me sleep! ! ! Is it or Not? just in case don't open that umbrella inside the house, don't kick that black cat crossing in front of you, and for heaven sake don't play a game of chicken with an eighteen wheeler if you are riding a bike...
Just like freedom of speech, we all have freedom of belief. A person's belief is a blueprint of how he will live his life. Beliefs change for some folks--as do blueprints.
Sometimes I worry about my tolerance of others. But it is the most important word you've written here. Certainly some of the world's chaos can be traced to intolerance. Tolerance isn't easy but it's the only road.

I do hope your stress gets managed Walt, a Doctor told me before stress will kill a person.

Well said, I believe there is somthing, I just haven't come to a decision on what that something is, certainly not the Gods of organized religion and that is my opinion.
Thought provoking questions you raise here Walt. I believe that people have been dying for concepts through the last several millenia. Freedom is certainly a concept for a specific type of human behaviour. Devotion to one's country is a concept. Concepts are definitely at the belief level. And if hostilities to force those with different concepts were not a reality. We probably would not have to die for our concepts if they differ from the beliefs of the majority. The Islamic suicide pilots of 09/11 were willing to die for their concept of religion. That forced those of us not of their Islamic faith to make a decision to defend our religious concept or back away and be forced into changing our concept, our belief. This was not a question of semantics, but a question of conception and beliefs. So, people do die for their concepts. Until humanity can deal with conceptual difference in a manner devoid of force, people will continue to die for their concepts. That is my opinion. To answer your first four questions, no. Question five, this is not semantics we are dealing with. It is philosophical. It is beliefs. It is concepts. It only mascarades as semantics when there is cognitive dissonance bewtween two opposing philosophical positions.
True, Walt, but people die every day in the name of religion. As for me, I choose to believe - how can I not? I do not condemn, I do not judge; I accept you for you. An excellent thought provoker; well written, with pointed questions that must be answered.
