A thinking song I wrote for all the Televangelists out there. I heard one of them say one day he needed money for a new Lear Jet so he could better spread the gospel cause his was getting old....For real. I wonder how the Word got around in Biblical days without one?
Simple three chord progression
Well we have heard all our lives that come back Jesus might,
He could be on CNN from some Holy site.
What if he is on the news at six o'clock tonight,
Will he be wearing GQ fare or will he look a fright?
Chorus:
Would Jesus wear a Rolex on his TV show tonight,
Will he be in Armani's or garments made of light?
Will he be wearing Gucci shoes or sandals that ain't tight,
Would Jesus wear a Rolex on his TV show tonight?
If Jesus were to have a spot on Larry King tonight,
Would Paul and Jan be at his side with Falwell on the right?
Will he tell us that we're wrong and that we should not fight,
Or simply hold his hand out and say send your pledge tonight?
Chorus or insturmental break:
We all know that he's the one who always does what's right,
Shall he reveal his truths to us even with no wealth in sight?
Will he speak with Heav'nly verve or will he be polite,
And say I need some new threads for my show tomorrow night?
This one cuts to the bone, which, by the way, was something Jesus did himself when he was here on earth. There are all kinds of tv evangelists, so don't make the mistake of condemning them all.
I love the honest few who are preaching to reach the spiritually needy, not just those with money to give. David Jeremiah comes to mind, just one good example; Charles Stanley's another.
One more note--if Jesus was here again, as a man, someone would have to foot the bill if He were to speak on television.

Walt, this strikes a good note against the televangelist -- whom I think are for the most part, charlatans at best -- they are all about self serving interest and robbing mostly from the needy -- Jesus will not need any worldly excesses to impress humanity -- I think your message has hit the proverbial mail on the head my friend -- peace and love -- Jon Michael

You know, I think He enjoyed this light-hearted poem. Oddly [I believe] He speaks to each and every one of us THROUGH each and every one of us. Sadly, the Rolex folks speak AT you not to you, but then again I may have been hearing the wrong Rolex folks talk. Guess you made me think more than perhaps what was intended, but ....
