No Shiny Objects

In a world gone mad, but not in a good way,

I retain my sanity, by writing some poetray.

“Shiny objects” of deliberate diversion constantly vie for your attention,

be in control and stay focused; have that intention.

Money; the duality of it double-dares,

to free you from the trap it ensnares.

TV; a diversionary part of life at best,

we get what we think is news filtered through tonight’s guest.

Music; guess all the creativity’s been tapped,

if we accept what we’re fed no matter how it’s (w)rapped.

Consumerism; great if items are of need,

if not, you may have been brainwashed into the Cult of Greed.

School Of America: indigenous assassins trained on U.S. soil,

kill innocent out-spoken Third World factory-workers after a hard day’s toil.

“To protect their interests”, banking backers say with greed,

so you can have the clothes they’ve convinced you that you need.

Advertisers; find it harder to sell,

to consumers who are wise to their client’s smell.

Celebrities; dis-engage that mindless fluff,

focus on your own life; your dreams, interests, experiences and stuff.

Transference and changing the subject is the way a loser argues.

Don’t allow it; stay on track and subject – watch ’em blow a fuse.

When diversionary sensationalism directs your attention right,

it’s time to look left to gain insight.

Prayer; what a concept, your God can’t lose!

If prayers go unanswered, then it’s “his will”!  What a ruse.

… and while on that subject, …

God Bless America, if she must,

but let’s pluralize it and be just.

Or better yet, let’s put all fairy tales to rest,

it’s time for intelligence to reign – the best! 

If not, then know this, …

… my people; the ones not under the spell,

we’re only 15%, but once united, we’ll give ‘em their hell!

So, with the use of the history-proven percentage for successful revolution;

humans will have the opportunity to move toward illumination,

… and become Focused.
