Puppy Mills, the ugly hand of man!

No one,
no sun,

miles of crates,
everyone waits,

a tall and bolted door,
tonight it opens, not before,

one bowl of food,
a yell a boot,

no one,
no fun,

narrow boxes long,
a gate of wire strong,

two feet high,
too tall, a sigh,

lots of them next door,
hear their scratches on the floor,

concrete floors with sawdust sprinkled,
lots of poop all intermingled,

fur is matted and full of dirt,
one is crying, it is hurt,

lots of doggies, yet all unseen,
no one knows, can't get a gleam,

hope? no, false,
just a banging on the stalls,

just checking locks are tight,
no one to escape their blight,

oh would it be the morrows,
escape their fears and sorrows,

but yet to no avail,
just same old food and water pail,

there is no touch, no love,
hear us angels from above,

still, the little pups and mother,
in a corner smother,

and again an ugly hand it steals
oh how heavy their heart it feels,

now there is only five,
just barely alive,

in a corner they squeeze and huddle,
and as best they can, they cuddle,

mommy dear keeps crying,
so sad, she feels like dying,

she winces all in vain,
it does not stop the pain,

again the ugly hand it reaches,
ignores their cries and screeches,

closer now they cuddle, hiding,
in the dark away from lighting,

this is their story. one by one,
none are left now all are gone,

some of them oh my,
don't live too long and die,

say? what have they done,
to never see the sun?

what laws did they not heed,
their moms in jail, their pups to breed,

those little loves mom had to share,
taken one by one without a care.
