Oh how difficult it must be

To land in bushes or a tree

Just one foot and a knee

This brave little soul

Accomplishing this goal

Though it took its toll

She banked her little chest

Of branches made a nest

Her little body rest

I could see it gave her pain

That little leg so lame

When branches she did claim

I reached my hand with bits of food

Close as I could for her to loot

I thought it do her good

With gracious peck and look so sweet

She reached and took the treat

Fulfilled my Sunday deed

Met folks along the way

Their next step would delay

So the little bird would stay

Three times I fed that little creature

Nearer God it brought me than a preacher

Love exchanged, the feature

California walnuts was the treat

For a little bird so sweet

Hope to help her on her feet

I too with food was blessed

Food that in the soul would rest

That treat, the very best!
