The vine of life

The grapevine

Come rain or shine

Gives of itself

For making wine

And as in life

Comes bliss or strife

Gives in abandon

Dour or blithe

The earth and sun align

In rhythm and time

Gives life to all

The will of divine

Of time you born

Come sunshine or storm

Live to the end

There nothing to mourn

It’s give and take

You tear and make

Right to the end

That is your stake

Forces beyond your ken

Knowing how and when

Will turn the hour glass

For all, and men

Their will is supreme

And always has been

You can ask why

Even for king and queen

You can ask why

And look to the sky

For answers so keen

Find out when you die!

You can surmise

From some truth and some lies

But cannot escape

Even the wise

It’s best to heed

Your conscience deep

Of life’s you’ve known

That formed your creed

The cycle continues to turn

From urn to urn

Rest is not known

Continue to burn

Nothing is still

In the universe will

All is alive

The void to fill!
