CONFLICTING INTERESTS

I am drawn back to the silent art

That’s where I had my start

A stroke with the brush

Just a tone with a blush

No need to fumble

Or even stumble

Over words or rhyme

A brushstroke will do just fine

Someone over a rose bloom bent

Who gets it in the End

Dirt now a common trend

A barrow full I’ll fend

Paint the ladybug and bee

Those are dear to me

A dragonfly a gracious thing

Paint the colour in the wing

So you see I won’t be bored ever

For I am so very clever

I can sing and dance

Given half a chance

Also play the flute

And a bit of lute

Far be it from me

That poetry it should only be

But then, now and again

And only when

The urge to press the pen

On paper now and then

With words will paint a scene

Just to vent my spleen

Though a thousand words would take

My thirst for poetry might slake

This now the road that looks to yonder

Might you ever wonder

My inside path have to obey

Should I want that dragon slay

Every nuance dip and hollow

My whim entice to follow

In the end it’s just a game

Should I fail there be no shame

Met so many along the way

Instead the dragons them would slay

Just focused on the world instead

Not enrich the soul, but bread,

Their inner yearning would neglect

To pay them much respect

The only currency their soul

Left living on the dole

But any artist that writes prose

To them extend bravos

Or the one with brush or chisel

A hammer or a whistle

Those all the while express their style

Be it beautiful or vile

Express their soul their being

Enrich us all, in other ways of seeing

Writing isn’t all that hard

If the computer does its part

Yet it seems I linger more

On motherboards enticing shore

Between cooking walking and Tai chi

There is hardly any time for me

Have to readjust the balance beam

Not just look at this darned screen

But do not worry my dear friends

This is not where it all ends

It’s just another rant

Without them life be bland

Most times I just grumble

When with the electronics fumble

This to myself a dare

I thought with you my friends I’d share!

Balanced on a narrow edge, that's me, singing, playing the trumpet.

I know I could certainly use a balance beam adjustment. Exactly, where I need the adjustment - I'm not sure, but this hit me squarely between the eyes. A wake-up call,if you will.

thank you so very much.

Have to readjust the balance beam
Not just look at this darned screen

I think something we all must do from time to time, and blessed is the person who is never bored, no matter what they may be doing, be it painting, writing, or simply a walk in nature.

Jasmin,

Never apologize. Sometimes we've just got to let it out, no matter the medium. I don't paint, so I write, instead. You're multi-talented, can get your stresses out in many ways! Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Good ventings of the spleen necessary at times. :)

Beautifully written from your heart in such a heartwarming way. Not always easy to balance everything and sometimes we all need a rest. Enjoyed this honest and sincere piece....

Be safe,
Karen
