Firing on all cylynders, when the imagination is engaged!

Parrot in a cage!

Learning scares me it truly does, it stinks, it’s learning someone else’s dross, me thinks,

Yet if it’s just for fun, for learning sake I run, I run, to open pages written by some sages, who had ideas about some things, gave them flight and wings, Like paper aeroplanes that let fly, to see how high the sky, and thoughts exploring worlds beyond, seize me, and with my mind abscond, then into realms of fairyland, for me to understand, To wonder much bemused, of settings that were used, My mind then images impose, that lent themselves to rhyme and prose; To fill the want and need, and satisfy my greed, Learn to play, and dragons slay, fly to wonderlands away, magic spellbound thoughts would lure, more happy learning would endure, There in jungles green, where cockatoos would preen, or on a distant star, longed for from afar, There old friends would hug, feel right at home and snug, But others, I would monsters fight, and put them all to flight, Swim with the dolphins in the sea, or with a sloth hang on a tree, Be pirate on a sailing ship, and school and classes skip, Yet my schooling ship, was neither cool nor hip. Time and discipline was much enriched, yet joy and fun were ditched, Rode not Cecil though, much math and furrowed brow, This was the common norm, to remember not inform, Though there were some, that knew just how, make reality, relate to now, But most like parrots in a cage, not know the meaning of a sage, Elaborate at lengths, this weakness and this strength, Their own had not explored, themselves with others bored, Trivial so called thoughts dismissed, that your own mind would enlist, still my mind was wondrous till, they stole the riches from the till, stole freedom and free will, that was the common drill, though much later and with drive, I that free will would revive,

Became a teacher of my own, from seeds that I had sown,

Now in my mind, rich and fragrant blossoms bloom,

all year from June to June. 18/01/2008

When lessons become a rigid 'learn by heart,' the heart is hardly involved...nor is the mind, but then it behooves the student to break free from such restraint and you did with bravado!

Great stuff, Jasmin H.!

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
