Senseless wars and fights, make Ma Liberty weep over her fallen sons and daughters! inspired by my friend Georg.

Look at me Ma!

That’s where it starts, hanging from a tree,

Look at me ma, look at me!

Now let me see,

Of eons past,

A monkey,

Could it be?

Standing on his head, look at me, look at me,

So proud he is, she could see,

 Are you proud of me?

His shining eyes did speak,

With glee

Not happier he could it be?

Proudly standing on his horse, for all to see,

Nor more proud could be,

He’d joined the cavalry,

 Spurs and stirrups gleam,

Look at me!

His pride could see,

From distant, roar, and cannons flair could see,

He’s fighting brave for me,

To keep me safe and free,

A searing bullet she could feel,

Enter he,

How could it be?

Black horses, a coffin on a Whipple tree,

His face no more could see,

His soul now free,

That searing bullets pain now felt,

Pay its fee,

She cried true woe is me!

Good mind twisting poem as well as entertaining, Jasmin. You point out characteristics good for contemplation. The play of vanity, heroism and grief all feel right...Jerry

You can break hearts with this superb poem, Jas! Sadly it seems ever to be so, but then we all should know by now freedom is never free!

People tend to forget that if we don't defend ourselves, we are going to have another September 11, 2001--and the next time may very well be much worse. We have a job to do. I don't like it any better than do a lot of people, but we need to get rid of these terroristic blastards and nip it in the bud, once and for all!! Excellent write, Jasmin; bravo!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :(

Far too many a truly heartbroken parent has sighed 'Woe is Me' when they learn their son or daughter has valiantly died on the battlefield. And in days of yore, our leaders and their own offspring valiantly served beside these soldiers. Today, hardly one politician and very few of their offspring ever see a bloody battlefield, and they probably never will.
