Caruso still rings in my ears today, what wonderful sound and memories! Destuction all around, yet there was this heavenly sound!

Happiness internal realm I’d found,
A bell I thought, that singing sound,
Was it Figaro, or bajjacio?
Or just a do re me fa so,
Heard from down below,

Old Mm.Werle up the stairs,
Arthritis not let her bones traverse,
And being young, of nature kind,
Would help her in her bind,
That old gramophone rewind,

Soon that last note he had song,
It would not take me very long,
Twist that handle round and round,
Till again, alive that sound,
Again us both in heaven found,

And with resplendent note,
Filled that heavenly abode,
Though there was no need,
She with cookies me would treat,
Mrs. Werle was so sweet,

Her knurled little hands would find,
Some other record in the bind,
Tenderly she’d place the disc,
Place the needle, not to frisk,
So, as not a sound be missed,

And then again in splendid air,
Sounds from heavens tenor fair,
Surround our longing ears,
Some were happy,
Some had tears,

I always felt a kin,
He, for his mom would sing,
In the streets of Napoli,
A piece of bread for fee,
I wished it could be me,

And all the joy he brought my heart,
Will never from me part,
To turn a crank for such small fee,
A million fold rewarded me,
Caruso, me, and Mm. Werle

Such wonderful memories. We had a crank phonograph when I was a child. I hadn't thought of it in years. Thank you for bringing my memories to the foreground.

God bless you. Kathy

Wonderful kindnesses by both parties. Your poetic story has an especially nice moral: when you give [kindness], your reward is doubled! Cookies AND Caruso...
Cheers, Jasmin Horst

What a great memoir Jas! It stirred my imagination and a recall of similar times listening to music with my grandmother. I learned to love all music because of her,and my Dad who played the piano every evening after dinner in our home. Thanks for the memories;-)!

A voice that caught the attention of the angels, he was a very special man. You do him justice in this wonderful piece....

Be always safe,
Karen

Say Something Terrorible v3 by RickthePoetWarrior

My mom says ‘If you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything’. Sorry mom but under the guise of poetic license I penned these beauties.
