Sqeezing in a few more extra minutes, can take all the enjoyment out of life.

Trying to run away, not!

Why all that extra work and strife,
Running to and fro,
You will not, leave this earth alive,
Sooner, or later, you’ve got to go,
You might not like the time, or place,
You’re nicely slotted preordained,
You’re, not at all special case,
If other thoughts, you entertained,

Another year or two, more, or less, defeat,
Eat veggies, drink green tea,
A bullets hits you with great speed,
You would be dead like me,
The reaper stalks you at your heal,
Relentless day and night,
He determines how you feel,
You’re always in his sight,

Hell no, I’m not a fatalist you fool,
But wrap myself in cotton,
That, would not, be very cool,
Or not, push thirteen, on a button,
Enjoy, the moment that I got
Take it easy, take it slow,
Stop running on the spot,
Stop running to and fro.

But I know for sure,
Another million mice they’ll kill,
Eventually they’ll find a cure,
Our everlasting angst to still,
A bigger better pill they’ll make,
And more and more prescriptions fill,
More faith they’ll preach,
To help you up boot hill!

Beside Still Waters by Jill Eisnaugle

Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
