Food for thought
Starving the world that’s full of food,
Blowing in the wind and rain
Miles of golden grain,
It all looks good,
Rich the harvest full the bins,
Tonnes and tonnes of gold,
Yet starving children are our sins,
Their food for fodder sold,
Fattened calf’s engorged for meat,
Lumps of gold have in their gut,
Million acres take to feed,
Just to get them fat,
Tanker trucks now full of spirits rare,
The stuff that burns in cars,
Miles of farmer’s fields lay bare,
Instead of bread, leave scars,
The world is really upside down,
Fill our gas tanks thirst,
When we on starving children frown,
“Our Motto”, the mobiles first!
Yet instead in homely spirit place,
In states so rich in gold,
No moral sway holds place,
Which way, grain is sold?
The same though, meaning well,
Will beg and plead,
On TV ads do ring their bell,
This hunger to defeat,
The golden calf is nothing new,
Gluttony, on list of sins,
Ere a prophet tabloids drew,
Of moral guidance kin,
There is so much more to see,
If spirits eyes would listen,
What should be the priority?
When fields of gold do glisten.

Your poem make me remember something which was said not so long ago with that insenced hope of something good happening at last, maybe you can remember that too, "dying of hunger are the children of lesser gods, by G.E.Mateos"
