My little Peggy with the broken and bent backward foot, sits in my hand to rest the other, we have grown to become real good friends.

A look!

Nothing but tenderness did I see,
When she looked at me,
Resting in the palm of my hand,
She surrendered her freedom willingly,

Her sweet face tucked to the side,
Black eyes full of light,
I seen her talking, without words of voice,
And what I heard was love,

Her soul laid bare in trust,
Her wings folded in my hands, she must,
Secure of knowing she’d be safe,
She looked at me,

Heaven and sweetness she said to me,
Deep her eyes, her soul could see,
One with the universe and God,
Together we were,

In unison we spoke of being,
Another way of seeing,
She said, you are me,
And I said so are you,

From between the trees I heard a voice,
And what I heard made me rejoice,
You’re only separate on this earth,
Till you return to heavens hearth,

Then a nightingale to heaven flew,
I knew this voice was true ,
God speaks in all, in many ways,
Spoke this little bird so small.

I have held little birds in my hand before, after they have hit the window,, the trust they had is just as you describe,,,I will never forget the one that closed his eyes never to open again,, I cried and cried.
Love, Christine

Oh, Jas! I had a little blackbird with the same foot! She brought her babies to the trough (large, elongated bird feeder on the ground); would push the wee ones with her head, until they found the seeds. She stayed around for a year, until her young ones were fully grown. Then all four were gone; I still think of her and miss her.
Love this poem!
