Too late to weep!

 - 1 -
Running dry!

Clever, you thought you were,
And then, the cupboard they were bare,
To late now, to start to care,
Now you’re thinking, what to do,
You cannot stock them from anew,
With that black molasses brew,
You’ve drained most every ounce,
Can’t get more, your cheque will bounce,
Your lifestyle now denounce,
Years and years, you had to think,
Yet, you brought us to the brink,
From now, it’s much red ink,
No more, that stuff, to grease the wheels,
To save us walking, on our heals,
Now in cold and darkness eat our meals,
You knew with all your learning,
You had plenty time concerning,
These brew, that, like a drug we’re yearning,
All now still and quiet all around,
No wheels turning, can be found,
Only those, that make no sound,
Wind and sun, and batteries dry,
Sailplanes fill the sky,
And sailing ships the oceans ply,
Yet better, much better, it could have been,
With all our knowing had foreseen,
And a smarter future we’d been keen,
The industry, filled want and greed,
And with pictures, planted seed,
To fulfill, a manufactured need,
But you, were not to blame,
Your neighbour, into buying shame,
That hummer now sits big and lame,
The house, sits dark and cold,
It too, it sits there, big and bold,
You knew, what could unfold,
But leaders were not born,
To take the bully by the horn,
Those us, of our future shorn,
The money men, they made their doe,
Are now well, off and laying low,
On islands, with a golden glow,
But the biggest sin,
Are leaders that got in,
On a silly public whim,
And come to think,
Plenty that took us to the brink,
So a four stroke, all the oil could drink,
Are you wondering yet, how this slipped by,
With all that pie, up in the sky,
Too late to weep, just wave goodbye

"...no wheels turning can be found..." can be a reality made only by man. Well said my friend.

I have to downsize, move to efficiency apt where I don't pay for fuel. HIgh cost it is going to be this winter I am told. Anyway anyplace where I can lay my head and have a roof over my head to sleep is only what I need in my life now. Not sorry to move, just necessary to survive.

Well said Jasmin! You are excellent when it comes to reality!
We can only pray that humanity will become more aware of what is happening and act accordingly!...ET

I sadly believe that the never ending quest for black gold will be the undoing of both mankind and our Mother Earth. Men will fight for it until there is not a drop left on Earth, and our planet and all its life forms will pay the price.
