Pain and treasures of the soul
Gently, and with care he folded silken cloth,
Gently, he wrapped his treasure, with love; he does,
Kisses on bended knees, and holds it high in prayers plea,
A lock of hair, pendant gold, of tears that flowed so free,
With all his earthly treasure drove, and marble urn,
In hollowed halls displayed for all to see and learn,
His love, her statue near,
Of all life's treasures dear, of all he did revere,
The golden dagger stained in blood, he buried deep,
In days forever would cut his soul, in deep and darkened sleep,
At sunrise gold, tormented fears, that would in daylight faint,
On calloused knees he’d bent again, and fearful pray his saint,
Oh dearest, please forgive me dear, but I loved you so,
How could you leave, how could you go?
No answer did she sent him none or that he’d understand,
A whisper though he heard, I’m not your golden band,
Gold you own, and silken cloth, and temples alabaster,
Reign over them, of them, you are the master,
However, you forgot or never knew, that love is in the heart,
Not find it in the flesh, or gold, of them, you'll soon depart,
My soul you raped, my body too,
You did me as a treasure woo,
Love treasures are in the soul, in yours and mine,
Not of your own you knew, and mine you did decline,
Oh dearest soul not yet fulfilled, a search for God,
On altars strange, it’s best you, them forgot,
Search in your heart, there they are, and waiting still,
Search there, your dreams, your love fulfill.
Indeed they are, my friend.
Well done.
