Little Rascals!

Caught in devious web me thinks, or is it my own?

Little Rascals!

My first laughter this morning,
I got up late and standing outside,
A little squirrel, with my scoop pot did fight,
It was a little one and very adoring,

Listen I said, I know I am late,
I slept in and you’re waiting for food,
I stand here bare naked, and that is no good,
I won’t be long; you just have to wait,

It scooped that milk can right over its head,
It bit it, and bit it, rolled it around it,
It was mad, I thought, I was so astounded,
Then with an impish look and turn dragged it down to the shed,

Standing there bare legged, barely covering my nuts,
It was cold I have you know,
Furthermore, still tired, so I was very slow,
It was mad I knew, there were no ifs or buts,

Gee, I said, what spoiled little brads,
As I laughed at his antics not so subtle way,
To get going and no longer delay,
Instead slipped on my pants in a hurry be Gads,

All them sitting on every branch, giving me looks,
Like walking through a pine tree gauntlet, them sitting there,
Little hunchbacks, with smirks at me did stare,
Those blackmailing little crooks,

Well, they knew, I’m a sucker for joy,
They played every trick, of which they could think,
They knew they’re actions to food, I would link,
No tricks would leave out, or try to deploy,

Every other day some black, red, or grey, little clown,
I swear they debate how silly I am,
Invent some different or clever scam,
Barter for food by being some ham, by wiping away my frown,

I ran after that little rascal, to retrieve the scoop,
The tool I use to get the seed,
To fill their hungry urgent need,
I stepped into a freshly placed, strategic poop,

The doggies that scoundrel, for he is now mad,
I knew it, or should have known,
First attention to him should have shown,
Those before him their breakfast just had,

Good natured I am, I kicked his bud,
I swear I heard laughter out loud,
Out there from the fasting crowd,
Moreover, then there was this monstrous thud,

Some bird had taken liberties on up there high in the clouds it flew,
I’ve only got two hands I yelled, while wiping the poop,
Now threw at it that darned scoop,
I’ll quit feeding you, so go ahead and sue,

A minute or an hour later, my mind with me played havoc,
Strange thoughts to me occurred,
Somewhat sinister and blurred,
Who am I, St. Francis not, they’re driving me amok?

That thought it brought me back to sanity,
Out to feed the rest, out there now, in the woods,
Such fun I have been spreading all those goods,
All among them rascals brave and free.

No, that's very good! My wife thinks I'm the only nut in the world who stands out in the yard, butt naked, feeding all the critters.

Wait 'til I show her this!!
