The comfort zone!
Shutters will keep out the light,
Keep in the dark, before the night,
Unknowns might be climbing up the vine,
Surely, entrance them decline,
Comfort and fear, somewhat assuage,
It’s not too bright and not to dark,
A barrier to a thief, who’d quickly steal your heart,
Or strongly held beliefs, with which you will not part,
You see enough to take a peak,
Some sunshine in your heart will leak,
Don’t see too much of dark and pain,
Not enough your soul to strain,
Keep your comfort level even keel,
Depending how you feel,
Never too much light let in,
You might commit a sin,
You see that doggie kicked and beaten,
Your help it might be pleading,
Don’t see that kitten needing food,
For sure you’d help, you would,
That army man in ragged cloth,
His baggage and his dross,
Wheeling down the street,
He too might have some need,
Crying into the night, a little whimper,
A needy child on crutches limbers,
A granny with sweaters misplaced button,
Alone, and desolate, forgotten,
The lady with dark glasses always,
Hiding shadows nights, or dullest days,
The drunkard husbands in the alley,
Her coming back would sway,
The thugs and gangs that hang around,
With one police call could be found,
You pull the shutter cord right tight,
Moreover, worry through the night,
You pull it tight across your soul,
Even so, your innocence it stole,
You broke a bond, that God held dear,
I am with you, have no fear,
Come upon you; the hour eleven,
You will not find your way to heaven,
From light you hid your eyes to long,
Now heavens light, will be to be strong,
In darkened corridors you’ll wander,
Not see the lightening strike, nor know the thunder,
Fall into searing heat and fire,
For you made your soul, a coward’s liar.
Now heavens light, will be too strong
I truly wonder how many today, so blinded by material things, will meet that gruesome fate.
front door with triple security locks and not one, but two heavy bars across to foul any attempt to open it by force.
Then, inside ourselves, our own windows to the world are reinforce with suspicion and disbelief, and the front door of our heart reinforced so we don't foul ourselves once more, we forfeit our freedom for the comfort of a prison of our own make, which, doesn't matter how we called, is still a prison.
