Another Fur Store!

I was going to have my coffee and write something a little more upbeat, only to open the full page ad in the paper, the fur industry is at it again,
looking for patsies to respond, you want to look different and chic etc, well it soured my morning, like a lot of mornings these creatures are suffering, there should be no excuse today to wear fur, just for looks.

What ugly black, brunette, or blond,
You guessed it,
With some precious creatures fur abscond,
Not mindful of the harm and pain,
Look at me,
Her ass to cover, their life would claim,
Once upon a time it was not fashions heir,
The brutality of life,
Needing to stay warm, no other way was there,
Even then not sport it was nor greed,
Cold hearted,
Just for looks, such dirty deed,
While the furriers live in lofty mansions tall,
Heartless bastards,
Little furry creatures, cower in their stall,
Little minks as cute as pie,
Tiny creatures,
All for their skin will die,
Millions more are snared or clobbered dead,
Brutal industry,
How more brutal can you get?
Some suffer terribly in traps and wires,
The human genius,
Before their little life expires,
Would you think it be a sin?
For instance,
Destroy a human for its skin,
Would you, ask yourself and ask it deep?
Pray for enlightenment,
All Gods children their skin should keep.

All Gods children their skin should keep.

Amen to that, my friend.

"...all God's children, their skin should they keep..."
At the end of the year 2008 and we haven't yet figured how to eradicate from our midst a few barbaric customs.

With all the faux fur they have today so beautiful too, the only answer is ego! Wanting the real thing to show off their opulent lifestyle,as if it makes them better than others. It only makes them pitiful! Well done Jasmin!

So true. The cruelty attendant on this trade is a blot on the conscience of humanity. Well done Jasmim.

Right on Jasmin. I hate to see even fauz fur being worn. Or even animal prints though they seem to be the rage. Great poem you've written. The last line is a perfect ending.

OH Jasmin you are so right about the fur industry. Trapped animals used only for their fur. The rest thrown away as others starve in the cold. What a harsh life made better by the sanity of your poems. Liz
