Little Peg is gone,

When she was just a sweet tiny baby, balanced in the brambles for lack of balance by a broken leg, I held my hand close to her little beak, when she took her first walnut, and for three years, she was the first to greet me, resting extra long on my hand to rest her one good foot, whe would always come when I called her, everyone knew her and would watch for her. I feed the crows that follow me, to keep away the hawks, life is cruel!

Little Peg is gone,

Silently I cry deep in my heart,

I call, and call, no one, not her,

My own special little friend, where are you?

Unusual, she is always the first to greet me,

Will she not more my treat to share?

I call and call, but not a beep, I worry,

Tears form in my eyes unnoticed, they well,

A spring broken, bubble up from my heart,

Silent the woods, no reply, her precious face,

Where are you sweet, where do you dwell?

Frantic how strange a feeling of despair,

No hope this moment, no one there,

Again I call and look around,

Nowhere little Peg be found,

Higher hold my hand, a treat to share,

Yesterday, I called you weren’t there again,

And again I made a special trip, for valentines,

Where are you my little sweetheart, where are you?

Oh, I seen the hawk the crows did chase,

In my heart her little face,

Come on out, I love you true ,

Sweet little peg, remember when you were tiny then,

Your first treat, your foot and wings was torn,

Please sweet if you there, only silence and pain,

Lovers walking past, embarrassed I wipe my tears,

I am silent now, all joy forgot, this silent morn.

The affection you had for her and the pain you feel at her loss will be balanced by the sweet memory snapshot of your little friend.

If Peg is alive she will come back, never stop calling. If she's not, she will have another sky where to fly and she will there to call you when you come there.
A bittersweet poem that shows your colors.

So very sorry to hear this very sad news, my friend. If Little Peg has now soared on to a higher realm, I'm sure she's singing your praises. I think my old friend, One-Legged Crow, may have left us also; and I'm really gonna miss him, too.

OH, I am so sorry for your loss. Peg was such a delight and so trusting because of who you are. God bless you. Liz
