I am pleased by your enthusiasm, Jasmin. And, I had and still do have hopes for Obama's potential accomplishments. But he already has done an abosolutely repugnant and immoral thing--he has done everything possible to lessen restrictions and increase public funding on abortion by presidential order. I am for practicality in this matter, that a woman should have access to abortion if her health is in question. But I am totally against abortion for convenience, for selection, or for population control. We have created a blood price to pay hanging over our heads just as the Chinese have in their selection against baby girls. It is the great American massacre going on before us, the murder of the innocents, as thoroughly repugnant as the slavery that Lincoln ended which enabled Barack Obama to become president. He emulates Lincoln. Let him have the moral fortitude of Abraham Lincoln to do the right thing. If he is to be a light, he can't do it by bringing in more of the darkness. I still think that he should have wiped out those house's mortgages starting with the armed forces and Veterans, which would have given the banks the 790 billions that they asked to "survive" and have protected the Americans housing.

I believe that the President has opened the way for a new era, not because of the man but because of the fact that he is a representative of what was supposedly an American dream...that any child can grow up to be President someday and as a black man he has done that. Will his presidency go down in history for that reason or because of his leadership and great things he will accomplish? Only time will tell but we as Canadians welcome him as we have all Presidents with respect that is do the representative of our neighbours to the South.
