Love does hurt!
A child innocent it’s life,
Comfort finds in mothers arms,
Nourishment of loves sustenance,
Protection from hurt and pain,
Far from daily strife,
Yet it kills, hurts others by proxy knife,
Mom and dad, will hunt for food,
Hurting innocent children of other kin,
Not able to defend themselves,
Sacrifice for it, a loved ones life,
A cry in the night, one tummy full,
One bloodied life, not knowing,
Where was the knife?
Not caring, happy now and sated,
That tummy, every night one life,
Like a bird, its taste buds grow to like,
That which Mommy likes to feed,
Is it veggie is it meat,
And the tummy grows and grows,
Soon too, its teeth, to bite,
When a hunter it becomes, to steal,
Some other mom or babies life,
To fill that growing tummies squeal,
To fill that growing tummies squeal,
The only gnawing zeal,
Happy only when it’s fed,
Bliss then in his mind does reign,
Mindfulness does feign,
Woe the hunger pangs return,
Goes out and kills instead,
Compassion not the stomach has,
Only when it’s full,
Mayhem, murder will it cause,
And not a moment pause,
To fill it full, no chance will pass,
The hunt is on, day in day out,
Not to fill the mind, but gut,
All mind and soul a luxury,
When empty tummy growls,
Is that, what life is all about?

To survive many will do what it takes,
Choices in killing should never be lightly made!
All humans need to become aware as your poem has made that clear!
Thank YOU!

Very powerful write. But it goes back to the days of hunters and gatherers. The hunters will do anything for the meat. Not a lot has changed it seems.

And well pointed out:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 'Compassion not the stomach has,Only when it’s full'~~~
Highlights the importance and beauty of spirit that would result from feeding the world... Compassion reigns predominately in a nourished body/mind... and shows how amazing Gandhi was to remain compassionate to non-violence throughout his famous hunger strikes!
Thank you for this!
Love, Suzie :-D
