In that theatre in that slum,
Actors all so glum,
Masses on the stage,
Not one of them a sage,
They move their parts,
No soul is in their hearts,
Zombies what I see,
Not one his mind set free,
Downtrodden and forlorn,
It seems of robots all are born,
Most barely aware,
It’s this planet that they share,
The throng unhappy faces,
Engrossed in selfish thoughts,
For not an eye they see,
The beggar on his knee,
Their wages spent on sin,
To buy the last that’s in,
For happiness they seek,
For their future is to bleak,
Hordes stream in and out the door,
Down the street of every store,
Bags tracking on the ground,
Five minute happiness have found,
Hurry home, not left, nor right they look,
Try on that latest dress or book,
An ugly mean the general gleam,
Like being hooked on their morphine,
And then at quarter past the day,
Signs of the coming down display,
That millstream now of all there is,
Hides from them all their bliss,
For that and all the masses more,
Not just one, but millions store,
Imagined toys of happiness,
For a seconds worth of joys success,
The world is as it should be,
Is gone to pot, can you not see,
This insanity, can anyone it flee?
Or are you hooked like me,
This why this most beautiful planet,
Is going fast to hell dear Janet,
As good all might be,
What about the chimpanzee?
Did he too at Wal-Mart shop?
Or buy that soda pop,
But then who cares, ask me,
Not past our nose will see,
Every day and every hour,
More consumer goods devour,
And just to make it clear and certain,
No more an iron wall or curtain,
Equal all now in this mess,
But no one will confess,
Guilty of our own demise,
Living farce, and living lies.

If the face of a nations wealth is measured by the size of its garbage dumps, then it is, we are a Nation of Zombies!
