This is for my dear friend Ed, whose subject this morning brought tears to my eyes.

T

Has a precious space been breached?
A holy shrine,
We spilled that cup of holy wine?
As we for our zenith reached?

On landing pat that rocket stands,
Do we have to leave, or have to stay?
Bring our own, or robot hands,
Still know then how to pray,

Who among us wants to leave?
Never to return, never ever see the earth,
Again once more its death to grieve,
Abiding love its dearth,

Now aliens occupy its treasured space,
Not need to breathe, to be,
Walk like us, and have our face,
They look like you and me,

Insidiously in us, they took their place,
In our hearts and minds,
Not blessed they are, in holy grace,
Not God their heart it finds,

Not love of blossom or of green,
Not fauna, flora, or a bird,
Except the greed that golden sheen,
Of Mother Nature never heard,

These aliens need not puppy love,
Or any other kind,
Not even from the Gods above,
To all these things are blind,

Pressed deep in our seats, breathing Co2,
We travel to the skies,
To find another marble blue,
Tears well and grieve our hearts and eyes,©

Jasmin, my friend we may be those creatures that looked away from the gift of nature in the arrogance of our ignorance -- peace and love --Jon Michael

Your love of nature is so passionate....it's what makes your writing so beautiful.

You've captured the spoilage of our Earth so brilliantly, J.H. We were entrusted, and haven't met our responsibilities. Is it too late? Only time after we've gone will tell.

Your words have impact here. well phrased. Excellent observations and questions. This little blue pearl in the cosmos is probably it. It is the best, the most forgiving, the most desirable and still we dirty it up. Perhaps we are undeserving. J'nia

Hi Jasmin, A sadness that can only be written by one so close to nature... your writing leaves an impact, don't stop...

If I were a cow I would want clean grass everywhere, if I were a dog I will want a tree to greet every ten yards or so, but because I am human I chase away the cows because the green grass are for my golf courses and the trees I cut down to sell to paper mills that are not making paper anymore.
Oh man! we are a sorry lot, not wonder the aliens don't want contact!

We travel to the skies,

The horrendous way things are going, that may not be very long from now. But I also now sadly wonder how long it would take to ruin another heavenly paradise-like planet.

I confess I worry too, Jasmin, but I do not allow myself to worry in such detail, or else I am subject to fears and depressions and fits of poetry like this...This is powerful and scary, and demands attention. Good job, indeed! Be well, Kathy

Jasmin,
History, if it ever gets to be written, will probably conclude we had the best intentions and the worst, and the worst won. I constantly ask if we deserve this home.
