I ate seal meat and wore a seal fur hat,
But I didn’t promote murderous zeal,
The Inuit hunter one clean shot, it had no time to squeal,
He didn’t kill it with a hook or bat,
Or skin it alive, still breathing hard,
It wasn’t a baby just barely born,
Before the skin from it was torn,
And with its life did part,
There is a difference between kill and hunt,
A reverence for life and living
That few white men could be giving,
Or any other colour to be blunt,
If industry was at all to be,
It was for living need,
Not for silver coins and greed,
No murderers came far from the sea,
Boatloads full of so called hunters,
Easy prey, a little seal,
Barely old enough to squeal,
Brave they say, one wonders,
Not a lions den they enter,
Not a scion near in sight,
None of them equipped to fight,
A murderous sight, in glorious splendour,
An industry, a gory harvest feast,
Pelts, for suffering naked ladies, and gents,
Suffering all around with no amends,
For gold and silver, kill a little beast,
And now the queens appointed dame,
For reasons proper, and respectable,
Partakes, in feasting seals delectable,
Without agenda or much shame,
This being said with tongue in cheek,
If politics is here at play,
What would Sir Mc Cartney say?
Some explanation would he seek,
Impartial as the Queen should be,
Of politics be free,
If, she’s not, this is truly bleak you see,
More blood, from sea to shining sea, or ice as it may be.©

In Spirit,

A reverence for life and living.
A vast difference, my friend, yet very few seem to comprehend that these very sad days.

PS. God save the Queen? are you kidding me?

Be always safe,

The whole episode is disturbing and I thank you for highlighting it and for illustrating the essential differences between humane killing and ... the unspeakable. Unfortunately, I've seen rats fried alive in a place I won't mention and it churned my guts.
