This little robin now full grown is free as a bird enjoys its life flying among the many tall trees in my garden wilderness, it's foot still somewhat mangled, but it manages better now, I have not done anything but let it be, no taming or training except to show it how to eat and drink on its own, it insists on coming in at night, I left it out one night, and boy was it pissed of at me, balling me out first thing in the morning. There is no coercing going on no bribing or whatever, I mean, I don't mind, I love it, phoned the experts they told me, that it has its own mind, as long as it is not caged, it can choose, strange though just the same, so I thought I write about it again. Bless you all! Jasmin Horst

Am I a warlock white?
I am perplexed,
What is it, which I do?
Or am I just plain hexed?

No kettle did I stir,
Except my soul my mind,
Or wishes on a staff did make,
That would such magic find,

Yet there in this dimension,
Where spirit meets the bone,
Realities were set adrift,
Those are at twilight home,

A tiny bird rests in my hand,
Abandoned I had found,
Aside the road to die,
Quietly a peeping sound,

As sure my nature would dictate,
To do my best, my part,
For it to cradle in my hand,
Resting closely near my heart,

Its insured foot, would rest aside,
Hang there, pitiful and weak,
But yet it knew that in my hand,
Its safety it would seek,

Now fully grown and all about,
It flies from tree to tree,
Its wings Olympians hail,
So happy to be free,

But then, just now and then,
From tree top comes to visit,
To sit atop my head,
Assure it-self, I would not miss it,

Other times its sits across,
On fence or nearby tree,
Like a patron saint,
As it were guarding me,

At sunset though, or thereabout,
It knows it’s time for bed,
But instead of tree or bough,
It settles in my hand instead,

A place it found, atop an urn,
A spot that’s dark and cozy,
Sleeps and cuddles there all night,
It’s quite a sight for one to see,

Soft tissue for its bum to rest,
Anew its bed I make,
Under its wing, its little face,
No notice of me does take,

Until, get this my friends,
Comes five or six or thereabout,
Takes flight to me, atop my chest,
And in my ear does shout,

Whatever would possess a bird?
Atop my chest to land,
To cuddle there and sleep,
I do not understand,

In any case this strange relation,
This closeness of a species bond,
I do admit, I do enjoy,
Surely must be way beyond,

I am perplexed my prayers heard,
From realms believers only know,
Or is it that I’m hexed,
Just reap what I would sow,

A wish I made some eons hence,
A wish of consequence to fill,
Give warmth’s and sustenance,
To save a bird from icy winters kill,

This too, this little one with leg adrift,
To ill to grasp a branch or twig
Such heartbreak I took home,
Helpless in my wit,

Three winters then the hawk it found,
My hand would place the food for weeks,
No calling would return it though,
Just redder got my cheeks. ©26/08/2009

How fortunate the two of you are to have been "connected", Jas! No bewitchment, methinks...maybe bewildered by trust and love. Yes, how fortunate!

"Bird Whisperer," indeed.
I love to charm squirrels with peanuts. I have somethat come up in my backyard sometimes, sit all over me and eat peanuts. Takes a while to gain their trust though.

I don't mind, I love it

Then why are you perplexed? Sounds marvelous, to me. Any time that I can connect with a nonhuman species, on any level, I feel truly blessed.
