Have I got time? It's so hard to be good, if not to others, even to yourself, isn't it?

Poem Artwork

This dear friend of mine,
now lying there; he didn’t listen,
his health was in decline,
for pork chops he was missing,

I thought he had, well sort of,
taken my advice,
stopped eating what thereof,
would cost him such a price,

Laying on this slap I thought,
the things that make us all and whole,
just the one, that he had bought,
God rest his precious soul,

I look at him, and see myself,
that by the grace of God I’m here,
I well could be, whose on that shelf,
for too, my taste buds I revere,

Sadness graces now my heart,
like a sheep I graze the grass,
knowing of it now he’s part,
though all that grazing gives me gas,

Green the verdant fields afar,
thanks to all his buddies there,
that under whelmed of warning star,
enrich its roots with care,

Time I had to realize, and not to soon,
it might be just, if meat I eat,
not ever, sing not more a tune,
not delay my maker meet,

And so I thought, I write this blurb
for other friends I have,
those tremors in their heart disturb,
their fears with balm would salve,

Eat grass and greens and in-betweens,
it’s good for body and for soul,
unless you have no other means,
to keep your body whole,

Give a thought too, as you chew,
on all that pain you saved,
when cruel slaughter you eschew,
a mile to heaven you’ll have paved.©30/01/2010

Fine writing dear Jasmin! I still have an occasional ham sandwhich, and sometimes ,

Love and hugs,
Eileen a chicken breast aside from that i too have become mostly veretarian...alas,I'm not sure in this present environment it makes a difference to our health as everything seems to be polluted on this sad planet earth. However it sure makes a difference to those who aren't a cause for the killing.
Hugs,
Eileen

I Understand this meat lament Jas! It's been awhile (too long) reading your heartfelt desires! He is adorable! I brought up #2 Pigs Years ago, till they reached around 250 lbs. They were divine! Along with our Bovines. Times Changed.
Eat Healthy!
Stay Strong!

You've reminded me of one of my favorite quotes:

“Think occasionally of all the suffering,
Of which you spare yourself the sight.”

What the vegetarians are missing and what those that are not are missing as well. Perhaps the word balance should be applied to our daily basis.
Now, fish and chicken do not suffer as much as cattle, bovines and porcine? Hey!!! I am just asking!

A heartfelt message indeed and while my taste for steak has declined I now eat fish about 4 or 5 times a week and chicken in a healthy soup with vegetables. I still enjoy a small piece of steak once a week.
Thank you for the sage advice Jasmin.

My dear friend I must confess
Your message that you do profess
Has so much merit that to deny
Merely serves a common lie
That protein has to come from meat
To make it fully fit to eat
To those who've made the that quantum leap
Who spare the hog and cow and sheep
Your Karma blooms for all to see
And provides a path for folks like me

Jasmin,
I've contemplated from time to time giving up meat but carnivore that I am I can't...although I do eat very little nowadays and stick mainly to fruits and vegetables and breads.
Very much appreciate the message here and as always your noble intentions.
