Battle at wounded heart,
Who’s you ask, and why,
From the beginning let me start,
It might even make you cry,
There in the midst of nowhere near,
A farm of sorts,
There a sweet and little lady dear,
Horses ducks and geese supports,
A place of rescue, for the creatures,
All are welcome, big or small,
No matter what their features,
From little birds, to horses tall,
Twenty some horses did she now size,
Abused, some already dead,
The owner never heard their cries,
He let them starve instead,
On feces and manure were feeding,
While the druggy owner wasted laid,
Not ever heard their screams or bleating,
Abandoned there behind a gate,
The druggy now needs money quick,
His misery he multiplies,
The law he uses as a trick,
Murder now he cries,
Off to slaughter all he sends,
To supplement his habit gross,
Their cruel life, more cruel ends,
So he, can buy another dose,
What is sad, is that the law an ass,
Allows this to proceed,
Though alive, property he has,
Exercise full reign his greed,
My taxes will send the bully boys,
Some club of neighbours, of such mind,
To protest, I have a choice,
But how, to reach the hearts so blind,
Property that cannot talk,
At the will of misery,
From all around,
Their hurt most cannot see,
Again I ask, as I do so often,
When will the laws reflect the truth?
When will the hearts of owners soften?
The hurt and pain of creatures soothe.©16/02/2010
Our crimes and our cruelty will never end, I fear, but your great heart will never stop crying out against them...nor should it.
John
Many of the owners are hard bent to feed their children, and must make a choice who to feed...I'm sure it's not a wanted choice they have to make. We can't include these owners in the group of sobs that just don't give a darn...as you expose in this poem, Jas!

We atrocious human beings seem to have somehow lost our souls. More and more abandoned, abused, and near death animals, of all types, are now being found - every day. And your nation sadly seems as bad as ours.
And I sadly fear, it will only get worse.
