A little red haired fox,
Pomeranian he is,
Tonga, I used to call him,
But now he’s deaf,
Can’t hear a thing,
Not whistle, voice or dinga--- ling,
Blind too he is,
Totally without sonar,
Walks straight into a duck pond,
Nearly drowned, a pitiful sight,
Wet, confused, and scared,
My crying heart he shared,
Now scared of every touch,
Runs into trees and things,
Kitchen cupboards, tables chairs,
What heartbreak this,
He squeals with fear,
When anyone comes near,
Into the dark he jumps,
Remembering the exit,
Towels, blankets at the door,
So he won’t break bones,
Such courage, this creature sweet,
Jumps into the darkest deep,
He walks from side to side,
Don’t know now where he’d be,
Can’t get back to home,
The door he cannot see,
His nose is useless now, can’t smell his food,
On his lips I rub, what he’d think be good,
Nearly nineteen old and in the best of health,
No pain of any kind,
Cept that he needs to live,
But is this life?
What am I to do?
Put him in a box wherein is now my shoe?
I do a roll reversal,
Become a Seeing Eye human,
Till then the time it comes,
As it does to all of us,
Leave him in Gods keep,
He might soon then fall asleep.©22/04/2010

Sends to Tonga his sweet love
I feel his presence now and then
It gives me comfort, reminds me when
By my side he'd always be
A fine companion just for me
I feel your pain because I know
Just when to let your best friend go
Will rip your heart out no matter how you choose
And either way your friend you'll lose
I have a vision to ease grief's weight
Angel Petey & Angel Tonga romping through heaven's gate
Pet Tonga for me. Patrick
I truly feel your pain, my friend, having been in that same place, far too many times. My worst, with my 20-year old feline, Buddy. He showed up on my dog's backyard grave as a tiny kitten, and he rarely left my side for 20 years. And when his time came, I thanked God for bringing him to me, but I also wished that he could have out-lived me.

Be always safe,
