Once upon a time,
A long time back,
In pastures you would find,
Those others of God’s kind,
Or in the wild or in the hills,
Still some wild things lived,
In harmony with natures care,
All would give and share,
Interrupted all for greed,
For the money, or the stomachs pit,
From tree, to fox, to hare,
Almost nothing left to share,
Caged now in cruel places,
Millions wait for death,
With high walls and out of sight,
Few do care to know their plight,
For whatever reason, we ration their lives,
Is it right, I ask, whatever the reason?
A holocaust of slaughter and abuse,
Just to satisfy our use,
Gluttony now an art, ask a chef,
It’s a feast of slaughter unending,
The killing fields from sea to land,
Not control ourselves, it seems we can’t,
Propositions have I,
Next time, we build that tower to the sky,
Add beef, swine, including lamb and cock,
Or anything else we kill or stalk,
Or as in days of old, build an altar for sacrifice,
Make the lamb more holy when it dies,
Let its blood run to the heavens trough,
All in the name of God’s weird love,
I pray, forgive, for I have sinned,
But I hope judgement is harsh,
That I come back as one whose blood I spilled,
When innocents I killed,
Why you ask, ask not forgiveness,
Why not you say, like million others,
Take the road to heavens grace,
Too ashamed I am, to see his face.©23/07/2010
